With the increasing complexity of systems, there is a growing demand for high power density, efficient, flexible and size-optimized power solutions.
Time during the design phase can be effectively reduced by using the most complete set of performance evaluation tools, which provide specific performance data. In this webinar, we will cover available tools to select proper inductors to optimize efficiency in high power density DC/DC applications.
In the first part, we will focus on the Texas Instruments 17V/2A TPS62147 associated with Coilcraft XFL series inductor, and show how inductor selection influences performance aspects of DC/DC converters by using free, easily available online tools.
Lastly, we will introduce the new Coilcraft XEL series of innovative, high-performance composite material power inductors, and highlight how they can be used to optimize power conversion efficiency of the 5-V/4-Amp TPS62827 converter.
Yann Ducommun works for Texas Instruments in Freising as Applications Manager for Low-Power DC/DC Converters. The applications team provides support to customers, designs evaluation modules (EVMs), writes blogs and application notes, trains field engineers and customers, and generates technical collateral to make TI parts easier to use. Yann received his Ph.D. degree in Semiconductor Physics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland)
Flavio Sestagalli works as Technical Marketing Manager in Europe for Coilcraft. In this role, he offers technical and marketing support to application engineers for reference designs and recommends suitable magnetic solutions. He works closely with new product development teams and actively cooperates in specification definition. He prepares technical notes for new products and has written and presented at numerous seminars and exhibitions. He received his phD degree in Electronics at Politecnico di Milano - Italy.
